About Mike

I’m Michael Sanders, a 36 year old programmer and a happily married father of three. When I have free time I tend to collect and play video games, and tinker with creative projects. These are a range of activities including programming software (from tools to games), as well as writing, and illustration or design. I also intend to write about my experiences and thoughts here, but often I stumble into dark periods of no posts for months or years at a time.

You can get in touch with me via twitter @herebemike.

I’ve been a full-time employed programmer of some sort for since I was around 20 years old, and did some contracting for a while before that (intermittently). My first memory of programming involves keying in basic code from a book into an Amstrad CPC-464 with my brother. We were probably reading from a manual or magazine, but I honestly don’t remember the details. I was probably aged between 6 - 8 at the time. It wasn’t until I was around 9 or 10 years of age until I started thinking about programming, and constructing my own software with intention.

I gravitated towards programming games, which I’ve always been fascinated with. My games were mostly text adventures or rougue-likes, because I had no idea how to get smooth graphics on the IBM PC I was programming on at the time. It was also around this time that I gained some exposure to C programming.

The story goes on, but I’m not planning to write a full biography today.

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.
